It was a pleasure and nice surprise to experience Kirsten's lecture. She really engaged with students and got up close and personal, like her films. It was a nice representation of what camera angles can do for character development and audience engagement. As she walked around the aisles, some students were interested and others were nervous and wondered if they would be called on. She seemed to want to get to know people and understand their experiences as much as she could, kind of like an empath. The short film that she showed us really piqued my interest because I am so interested in politics and social justice journalism. The shots that she got into that film were incredible, especially the view looking at the sky behind the kids heads. I nodded as she was speaking about it and she saw that and sat down next to me.
